Utility-Scale Battery Storage Systems
AlphaESS is expanding utility-scale battery storage systems across Europe, supporting renewable energy integration and improved electricity grid management. The company is advancing projects in Lithuania, Austria, and Germany totaling 200 MWh, demonstrating how large-capacity batteries can support different energy infrastructure requirements.
The projects incorporate AlphaESS' Aster 5000 technology, a liquid-cooled battery system providing approximately 5 MWh of storage within a 20-foot container. Its temperature management, battery monitoring, and safety features support reliable operation. In Austria, a 40 MWh grid-services section began operating in September 2026, while additional projects are progressing toward deployment.
For energy developers and utilities, these systems offer opportunities to improve grid stability, manage electricity demand, and accommodate renewable generation. AlphaESS' fifth consecutive BloombergNEF Tier 1 recognition also provides investors and project partners with an additional reference when assessing suppliers and financing large-scale energy storage developments.
