Virtual Power Plant Programs

Tigo Energy expanded eligibility for its virtual power plant program across Delaware, Maryland and Virginia, with New Jersey and New York expected to follow. The expansion builds on existing VPP availability in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and Puerto Rico, allowing more homeowners with Tigo residential solar and storage systems to participate in utility-driven grid reliability programs.

Through intelligent energy management, eligible systems connect with participating utility and aggregator programs, enabling homeowners to contribute stored energy back to the grid during peak demand periods while earning incentives and maintaining control over their own energy use. The model helps utilities access flexible distributed capacity without relying solely on new centralized infrastructure.

Tigo Energy shows how expanding virtual power plant programs can turn homeowners with solar and storage systems into active participants in grid resilience while helping them maximize the long-term value of their clean energy investments.
