Coastal Measures Raised $260K to Scale Its CUMULUS Data Platform

Coastal Measures gained $260,000 from Maine Angels to scale CUMULS, an AI platform that takes fragmented, incompatible sensor data scattered across coastal environments and turns it into actionable insights for ports, insurers and engineers. The coastal ocean AI data platform addresses a challenge quietly holding back the maritime industry: vendors generate massive amounts of coastal sensor data, but without a standardized layer, much of it remains locked in incompatible formats.

Total funding has now surpassed $1.5 million, including backing from Amazon Web Services, with the company based in Kittery, Maine, through the Roux Institute’s ClimateTech incubator.

Coastal Measures shows how building a standardized, AI-ready infrastructure layer across fragmented sensor ecosystems can unlock the real-time coastal intelligence the industry has needed for years.
