CoreWeave Committed £1.5 Billion to UK Clean AI Advancements
Colin Smith — February 25, 2026CoreWeave has announced a £1.5 billion investment to expand its AI data centre capacity and operations in the United Kingdom, bringing its total UK commitment to £2.5 billion. The funding is directed toward building advanced, purpose‑built AI infrastructure that prioritises sustainability, including facilities backed by renewable energy and designed to support large scale AI workloads. The initiative aligns with the UK Government’s Compute Roadmap and is intended to provide AI labs, enterprises, public sector organisations, and research institutions with high performance compute resources. The announcement was made during a state visit by President Donald J. Trump and was accompanied by statements from UK leadership highlighting the role of AI in national innovation and economic development.
The investment includes partnerships with NVIDIA and Scottish data centre operator DataVita to deploy NVIDIA Grace Blackwell Ultra GPUs in Scotland, supported by renewable energy sources and closed loop cooling systems to reduce environmental impact. CoreWeave positions this expansion as establishing one of the world’s largest concentrations of sustainable compute infrastructure, with expected contributions to job creation across engineering and operations. The company frames the programme as part of a broader strategy to advance responsible AI development while strengthening the UK’s position as a global centre for AI research and deployment.
