Community Solar Access Programs

Community solar access programs are combining distributed energy technology with education to expand electricity access in underserved communities. BLUETTI and UN-Habitat carried out their second joint initiative under the Lighting An African Family program in Benue State, Nigeria, providing solar lighting and storage alongside practical energy training. BLUETTI donated 50 PB200 Solar Lighting and Storage Kits for a university workshop and another 180 kits to households headed by women or elderly individuals in Yelwata.

The household deployment is expected to benefit more than 1,000 residents by providing reliable electricity for everyday activities, education and communication. The broader LAAF program has now reached more than 60,000 people across Africa. For clean-energy companies, partnerships with international organizations can provide a scalable route into underserved regions while demonstrating real-world applications for distributed solar products. Expanding these programs can also build local knowledge and long-term familiarity with renewable energy technologies.
