Collaborative Renewable Energy Projects
ENGIE North America, Microsoft, and Solstice Collaborate
Kalin Ned — January 5, 2026A collaborative renewable energy project in Illinois, named the Harmony community solar farm, has commenced operations. The initiative was developed by ENGIE North America with involvement from Microsoft and the community solar provider Solstice.
The collaborative renewable energy project allocates sixty percent of its energy output to households meeting low to moderate income criteria. In doing so, the initiative offers these subscribers a reduction in their monthly electricity expenses. The healthcare institution Rush University System for Health has committed to purchasing the remaining forty percent of the power generated.
The organizational structure of the Harmony community solar farm involves ENGIE as the developer, Solstice as the intermediary managing customer enrollment and relations, and corporate partners supporting the initiative. The ultimate goal of the collaborative renewable energy project is to broaden participation in solar energy to demographic groups that typically face barriers to installing private residential systems.
