Maritime Nuclear Batteries

Deployable Energy Tests Its Unity Microreactor in Offshore Operations

Deployable Energy is advancing its Unity Nuclear Battery through full-power and maritime demonstrations designed to test microreactor performance under realistic operating conditions. At Idaho National Laboratory, the system will undergo full-power evaluation covering integration, controls, safety and operational procedures. A separate demonstration with Hornbeck Offshore will assess the technology in maritime environments, including space, weight, logistics and reliability requirements. The resulting data could also support future regulatory licensing and commercial deployment.

For energy operators, transportable microreactors could provide reliable power in remote locations where conventional infrastructure is limited or unavailable. Maritime testing could expand potential applications across offshore industries, defense, emergency response and coastal operations. By demonstrating its technology beyond laboratory settings, Deployable Energy can build commercial confidence while creating a pathway toward scalable nuclear power systems that can be transported, installed and redeployed as needed.
