Apple Invested in Its INR 100 Renewable Energy & Waste Reduction in India
Adam Harrie — May 12, 2026Apple announced a suite of environmental initiatives in India, including an INR 100 crore investment with CleanMax to develop more than 150MW of new renewable energy capacity for Apple India, enough to power about 150,000 households annually. The investment builds on a previous rooftop solar collaboration and aims to scale renewable energy across Apple’s Indian supply chain.
Alongside the energy investment, Apple partnered with WWF-India and Saahas Zero Waste to expand plastic recovery infrastructure into new regions, including Coimbatore, and committed grants through Acumen to six green enterprises focused on waste management, the circular economy and regenerative agriculture.
Apple shows how combining investment in renewable energy infrastructure with grassroots conservation and support for green entrepreneurship can create a broader environmental strategy than offsets alone.
