Kanadevia Inova Has Signed a 33.5-Year Casablanca Waste-to-Energy Deal

Kanadevia Inova signed a 33.5-year concession agreement for a waste-to-energy landfill project in Morocco, adjacent to Casablanca's Médiouna landfill, one of Africa's largest landfill sites. Developed in partnership with Moroccan energy company Nareva and ITOCHU Corporation, the facility will process approximately 1.5 million tonnes of waste annually and generate around 126 MWe of power capacity.
The project integrates a 50 MW solar facility, a 4 MW landfill gas recovery system and Inova's proprietary Autaro combustion control technology. The combined systems are expected to generate roughly 1 TWh of electricity annually, enough to power approximately one million people.
As landfills worldwide face growing pressure to address methane emissions, this project signals that integrated waste-to-energy platforms can transform a persistent environmental liability into a genuine renewable power source at meaningful scale.
