Sustainable Infrastructure Projects
PowerChina Supports Several African Nations
Kalin Ned — January 5, 2026Power Construction Corporation of China, commonly known as PowerChina, is implementing a series of large-scale infrastructure initiatives across several African nations. As such, the entity has positioned itself as a principal development collaborator through the execution of major clean energy and water supply projects.
In Egypt, PowerChina is constructing a substantial wind farm designed to generate over four billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. This infrastructure incorporates specialized engineering to withstand harsh desert conditions. The wind energy project promises to alleviate chronic electricity shortages, potentially powering industrial activity and improving the quality of life for approximately one million households, while also contributing to national carbon reduction goals. Concurrently, in Mauritania, the company has established a raw water pretreatment facility that significantly enhances the drinking water supply capacity for the capital city.
PowerChina's presence in Africa emphasizes not only project delivery but also technology transfer, local employment creation, and partnership models that involve international financing. The goal is to foster sustainable, long-term regional development.
