Viridi Energy began construction of a renewable natural gas facility at the City of Lincoln's Bluff Road Landfill, capturing methane from decomposing waste and converting it into pipeline-quality fuel for injection into Black Hills Energy's distribution system. The facility is expected to become operational by Q1 2027 and will process approximately 3,000 SCFM of landfill gas, providing enough energy for roughly 10% of Lincoln's households.

The project emerged from a competitive public procurement process and represents Viridi's fourth landfill gas-to-RNG facility, with a fifth project in Texas commissioning alongside it. Together, the facilities bring the company's portfolio capacity to 2.3 million MMBtu.
