CO2-Based Polyols
Monument's New Facility Will Produce Polyols Made from Renewable Carbon
Kanesa D — November 18, 2025Monument has begun domestic production of renewable-carbon polyols at its Brandenburg, Kentucky, facility. The new product line, known as Poly-CO₂, is manufactured using Econic Technologies’ proprietary process, which swaps traditional fossil-based raw materials for captured carbon dioxide. This shift not only reduces reliance on conventional petrochemical feedstocks but also lowers the material’s overall global warming potential by an estimated 20–30%.
Poly-CO₂ polyols are engineered for demanding polyurethane applications across a wide range of industries. These include furniture and mattress production, automotive parts, apparel and footwear components, and coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers.
By incorporating carbon dioxide directly into the molecular structure, the materials offer notable enhancements in product performance, such as greater resilience in bedding foam and increased toughness and longevity in coating formulations.
