NorthX Climate Tech Invested $3M in Four BC Startups
Adam Harrie — May 8, 2026NorthX Climate Tech invested $3 million in four BC startups tackling industrial decarbonization from different angles. ShiftX Technologies is rethinking hydrogen production at lower temperatures for industrial and marine applications, while Kinitics Automation developed a zero-emission electric actuator to replace methane-venting pneumatic devices used in natural gas operations, more than 261,000 of which need replacement across Canada by 2030.
CURA is generating zero-carbon lime using an electrochemical process that can be integrated into existing cement plants without requiring new supply chains. Meanwhile, Hydron Energy is integrating direct air capture with rare gas recovery for satellite propulsion.
NorthX shows how targeted investment in early-stage hard tech can advance industrial decarbonization in sectors that renewable energy alone cannot easily address.
