Satellite-Verified Methane Reductions
Satellite-verified methane reductions are becoming more accessible through a five-year agreement between Mitti Labs and Salesforce to support lower-emission rice cultivation in India. Salesforce will purchase 500,000 carbon credits by 2030, helping farmers adopt irrigation methods that periodically allow fields to dry, limiting methane production without reducing crop yields.
Mitti Labs uses its GeoAI platform to combine satellite radar imagery with field observations, tracking soil moisture, flooding, and crop conditions. This provides measurable evidence of environmental benefits for credit buyers. The farming practices can lower methane emissions by up to 50% and water consumption by up to 40%, with the partnership expected to conserve 700 billion liters of water.
For businesses, the agreement strengthens access to independently verifiable agricultural carbon credits. It also supports Mitti Labs' expansion plans, including a target of issuing two million credits annually by 2028.
