School-Based Battery Recycling

Call2Recycle Brings Battery Collection to Canadian Schools

School-based battery recycling is expanding across Canada through an extended partnership between Call2Recycle and Earth Rangers. Beginning in fall 2026, battery recycling education will become part of Earth Rangers’ School Assembly Program, reaching approximately 1,000 schools and more than 300,000 students annually. Educators will receive classroom resources, student workbooks, and battery collection boxes, connecting environmental lessons with practical recycling activities.

The multi-year partnership combines in-person education with digital content across Earth Rangers’ app, website, social media, and YouTube channel, allowing Call2Recycle to reach students and their families through multiple channels. Providing collection boxes alongside educational materials can also turn awareness into measurable recycling participation. For Call2Recycle, the program expands engagement with younger consumers and reinforces proper disposal habits, potentially increasing the volume of batteries entering established recycling systems while strengthening long-term participation in its nationwide collection network.
