Deployed Electric Ferry Fleets

Candela is Implementing 'P-12' Flying Electric Ferries in Thailand

Candela and Thai ferry operator Seudamgo have entered a procurement agreement for ten Candela P-12 electric hydrofoil ferries intended to operate on routes between the mainland and Koh Kood in Trat province. The vessels are P-12 Business models configured for 20 passengers, designed to cruise at speeds above 25 knots and complete the 20-nautical-mile route in approximately 40 minutes; their hydrofoil technology lifts the hull above the water to reduce hydrodynamic drag and energy consumption relative to conventional speedboats.

The partnership emphasizes environmental and passenger-experience benefits, with Candela reporting up to an 80% reduction in energy use compared with traditional fast ferries, zero operational emissions, minimal wake and underwater noise, and a flight-control system intended to improve ride smoothness and reduce seasickness. The agreement is positioned as supporting Thailand’s sustainable transport objectives and advancing the electrification of waterborne passenger services in a market where rapid, low-impact connections to tourist destinations are a priority.
