Telangana has articulated a formal commitment to achieve near zero emissions by 2047 through its Telangana Rising 2047 Vision, positioning renewable and low carbon systems at the center of its strategy to become a clean energy powerhouse. The vision outlines large scale deployment of renewable generation paired with storage, grid modernization, and market reforms to deliver 24 by 7 clean and affordable power. The state also plans targeted sectoral measures including retrofitting existing thermal plants with advanced emission controls, development of green hydrogen, and policies to accelerate renewable project development and integration under a Clean and Green Energy framework.

The roadmap includes mobility and urban measures to reduce transport emissions, with Hyderabad expected to host a substantially expanded electric bus fleet by 2030 and a phased move away from internal combustion engine vehicle sales by the late 2030s, according to the published plan. Implementation priorities emphasize policy design, infrastructure investment, and institutional coordination to scale generation, storage, and smart grid capabilities while aligning industrial growth, climate smart agriculture, and urban greening with the net zero objective. The state frames the approach as a multi‑pronged transition combining technical, regulatory, and financing measures to meet its 2047 target.
