Quarterly EV Delivery Rebounds

Tesla Q3 Deliveries Top 486,000 as Europe and China Demand Grows

Tesla Q3 deliveries totaled 486,000 vehicles, up roughly 6,000 from the second quarter. The figure beat Wall Street consensus estimates, though it remained below the prior-year quarter's 497,000 deliveries, which a rush of U.S. buyers ahead of an expiring federal tax credit had lifted.

Sales rose again in Europe, where Tesla is reportedly expanding capacity at its German factory, and stayed strong at its China plant, with newer markets such as Japan, Australia and Lithuania adding volume. Tesla also recently began Cybercab rides in Austin and launched the production Tesla Semi, targeting roughly 50,000 units a year.

As U.S. demand shifts, Tesla's results signal that EV makers are leaning on regions with stronger emissions rules and newer markets, while commercial trucks and autonomous rides are becoming additional growth paths.
