Localized EV Battery Production
Octillion Power Systems Adds 3 GWh of Annual Capacity in India
Mursal Rahman — August 11, 2026Localized EV battery production is expanding in India as Octillion Power Systems opens its third manufacturing facility in the country. The Gujarat plant adds more than 3 GWh of annual battery capacity and can produce over 48,000 battery systems each year. By integrating battery management systems, thermal modeling, and standardized production processes locally, the facility supports growing electrification across passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, and buses while reducing lead times and strengthening domestic supply capabilities.
India’s accelerating EV adoption is creating significant demand for localized battery manufacturing and more resilient supply chains. Octillion’s expansion positions the company to serve automakers closer to their production markets while reducing exposure to global sourcing disruptions. Greater domestic manufacturing capacity could also support India’s electrification targets, encourage local supplier development, and create opportunities for battery companies as electric mobility scales across multiple vehicle categories.
