Sustainable Finance Commitment Milestones

Citi Bank Has Passed $647B Toward $1 Trillion Target

Citi has committed $647.2 billion to sustainable finance since 2020, putting the bank more than halfway to its $1 trillion target. In 2025, $91.3 billion was committed despite a difficult market environment. International projects received 62% of last year's financing, and the bank estimates that its sustainable financing activity has helped avoid 8.8 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions and supported more than 4.4 million jobs.

Citi also completed six of eight operational sustainability targets due in 2025, cutting location-based Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 58% against a 45% goal and reducing energy consumption by 43% while maintaining 100% renewable energy sourcing.

Citi's progress signals that the execution of sustainable finance increasingly depends on infrastructure readiness and local market conditions, as much as on capital commitment alone.
