Clean Energy Reconstruction Partnerships

Clean energy reconstruction partnerships are strengthening cooperation between Canada and Ukraine as the countries expand efforts to rebuild and modernize Ukraine’s energy system. The agreement covers renewable energy, hydropower, energy storage, grid resilience, and advanced nuclear technologies, including small modular reactors. Canada is also providing a $200 million concessional trade finance envelope that can support priority Ukrainian projects, including hydroelectric infrastructure.

The partnership creates opportunities for Canadian utilities, engineering firms, technology providers, and investors to participate in Ukraine’s long-term energy reconstruction. Joint work on damaged hydro assets could combine financing with engineering and construction expertise, while cooperation on storage and grid modernization can support a more flexible electricity system. Expanding collaboration around nuclear technologies and energy equipment could also strengthen commercial ties while helping Ukraine develop more diversified and resilient domestic energy infrastructure.
