Virya Energy and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have established a new renewable energy platform in Poland with a planned capacity of 2 gigawatts. The platform follows the acquisition of Optima Wind’s portfolio, which includes solar, wind, and battery energy storage system projects at various stages of development. The initiative is intended to accelerate Poland’s clean energy transition by expanding utility scale renewable capacity and supporting the integration of storage technologies that can improve grid stability. The partners have indicated that the platform will focus on both greenfield development and the advancement of existing assets.

The collaboration aligns with broader European objectives to increase renewable energy deployment and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Virya Energy brings development and operational expertise, while the EBRD contributes financing capacity and experience in supporting energy market reforms across the region. The platform is expected to contribute to Poland’s long term decarbonization targets by enabling additional investment in wind and solar infrastructure. It also reflects growing investor interest in Central and Eastern Europe’s renewable energy markets, where policy frameworks and demand for low carbon power continue to expand.
