Electric Forklift Manufacturing
Toyota Opens a $100m Electric Forklift Factory in Indiana
Mursal Rahman — August 7, 2026Electric forklift manufacturing is accelerating the shift toward lower-emission industrial equipment as manufacturers expand production to meet growing demand for battery-powered material handling solutions. Toyota Material Handling North America has opened a dedicated electric forklift factory in Indiana that will produce vehicles for both the Toyota and Raymond brands. The facility incorporates automated manufacturing, energy-efficient powder coating, and a building designed for future rooftop solar installation, while providing the flexibility to scale production as demand for electric forklifts continues to increase.
For businesses, the expansion reflects the growing electrification of warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities. Fleet operators can transition to electric equipment that supports operational efficiency while helping meet sustainability objectives and evolving emissions standards. As adoption of electric industrial vehicles grows across North America, manufacturers that invest in advanced production capabilities and flexible manufacturing systems will be better positioned to respond to changing customer needs and the expanding market for electric material handling equipment.
