Hydrogen Trucking Fleet Deals

Hyroad Energy and Toyota Motor North America agreed to deploy 40 hydrogen fuel-cell trucks in Southern California, marking one of the largest commercial hydrogen trucking deployments in the US. Hyroad provides vehicles, maintenance and fleet management software, while Toyota supplies hydrogen through its refueling infrastructure under development in Ontario, California.

Each truck carries up to 70 kg of hydrogen, refuels in 15 to 20 minutes and delivers up to 500 miles of range per fill, with water vapor as its only emission. Hyroad has built its operational model around 117 hydrogen trucks acquired from Nikola Corporation’s bankruptcy auction in August 2025.

Hyroad and Toyota show how bundling trucks, software and fueling infrastructure under one agreement can reduce complexity and accelerate fleet deployment.
