Ground-Mounted Solar Installations
ForeFront Power Has Deployed Erthos Solar at a Water Plant
Adam Harrie — August 15, 2026ForeFront Power achieved commercial operation of its first Erthos Earth Mount Solar system at the City of Fresno’s Northeast Surface Water Treatment Plant. The design places solar modules directly on the ground, eliminating the structural steel racking used in traditional ground-mounted systems and reducing project development costs.
ForeFront Power passed those savings on to Fresno through lower electricity rates under a 20-year power purchase agreement. Since entering commercial operation in March 2026, the system has averaged 101% of expected energy production and delivered 862 MWh to the city. Maintenance is handled by ErthBot, an autonomous nylon-brush robot that cleans the array nightly.
The installation is part of a broader 27 MW-DC solar and battery storage portfolio across three Fresno Department of Public Utilities sites. The portfolio is expected to save more than $122 million in ratepayer costs by 2045.
