TotalEnergies Started Work on Its 440mw Solar Plant in the Philippines
Adam Harrie — May 8, 2026TotalEnergies and Philippine developer Nextnorth broke ground on a 440MW solar plant in Isabela, Philippines, the largest internationally financed solar project in the country’s history at around $300 million. The project is funded by SMBC, ING and Standard Chartered and is expected to be operational by the end of 2027.
More than half of the plant’s output is already committed under long-term agreements with retail electric suppliers AdventEnergy and PrimeRES, which serve commercial and industrial customers. The remaining generation will flow to the national grid through the Philippine government’s Green Energy Auction Program.
TotalEnergies and Nextnorth show how pairing long-term offtake agreements with international project financing can bring large-scale projects online faster and more efficiently than relying solely on government-supported programs.
