REDC Acquired a 95% Stake in Maramag Hydropower Corporation
Colin Smith — December 3, 2025Repower Energy Development Corporation (REDC) has acquired a 95 percent equity stake in Maramag Hydropower Corporation, the developer of the proposed 25 MW Pulangi IV hydropower project in Maramag, Bukidnon. The transaction involved the purchase of 32,192,001 common shares valued at approximately PHP 32 million and adds a project with an estimated development cost of about PHP 6.3 billion to REDC’s portfolio. Pulangi IV is sited on the Pulangi River downstream of REDC’s recently commissioned 18.2 MW Cabanglasan plant, and the acquisition is presented as a strategic step to consolidate a cluster of small to medium sized hydropower assets in Mindanao to support local renewable generation capacity and grid stability.
REDC’s management has characterized the takeover as part of a broader expansion plan that includes ongoing construction of other small hydro projects and planned starts for additional developments in the near term. The company frames the Pulangi IV addition as complementary to its existing pipeline and as a means to leverage operational synergies along the Pulangi River system, while observers note that project realization will depend on permitting, financing, and construction scheduling. The acquisition aligns with REDC’s stated objective to increase locally sourced renewable capacity in Mindanao and to pursue a cluster approach to hydropower development that may reduce per‑project costs and streamline operations.
