Clean Energy Joint Ventures
TotalEnergies and Masdar Formed a $2.2B Renewable Energy Platform
Adam Harrie — April 10, 2026TotalEnergies and Masdar agreed to combine their clean energy operations across nine Asian markets into a single $2.2 billion joint venture, targeting countries including Japan, Indonesia, South Korea and Kazakhstan. The combined platform already has 3 GW of capacity generating power, with an additional 6 GW of renewable energy projects in Asia expected to come online by 2030.
The Abu Dhabi-based venture will have about 200 employees from both organizations and will focus on developing solar, wind and battery storage projects across all nine markets. The deal remains subject to regulatory approval before it can officially close.
As demand for electricity throughout Asia continues to exceed supply, this partnership demonstrates how international energy firms are combining assets and expertise to deliver clean power at the speed and scale the region genuinely needs.
