Delta Air Lines and Shell Aviation announced a five-year collaboration to expand sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) availability through 2030 across five major U.S. hubs, including LAX, JFK and MSP. The agreement builds on decades of conventional jet fuel partnership and focuses on establishing the logistics, blending and distribution infrastructure needed to support consistent, reliable SAF delivery rather than one-off shipments.

Shell will support both blended and neat SAF deliveries at select airports, while the two companies will also evaluate next-generation SAF pathways, including alcohol-to-jet and power-to-liquid technologies. The partnership builds on Delta's existing role as the anchor partner of the Minnesota SAF Hub, which delivered its first SAF shipments to Minneapolis and Detroit airports in 2024.

Delta Air Lines and Shell Aviation show how infrastructure-first partnerships can help scale SAF from limited pilot programs into a dependable, network-wide fuel supply.
