Sustainable Aviation Fuel Projects

Technip Energies, Airbus, Safran & Tereos Partner on a Project

Technip Energies, Airbus, Safran, and Tereos have entered into an agreement to create Rebound — a joint venture aimed at developing a large-scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel production project at the Port of Dunkirk in Northern France. This venture is expected to produce approximately 160,000 tons of SAF per year using the Alcohol-to-Jet technological pathway. This will be one of the largest facilities of its kind in Europe.

The large-scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel production project brings together a comprehensive value chain, with Technip Energies serving as the lead developer and engineering service provider, Airbus and Safran joining as industrial partners and potential offtakers, and Tereos intending to supply the advanced ethanol derived from agricultural and forestry residues that will be converted into drop-in aviation fuel compatible with existing aircraft and engines.

The project aligns with the European Union's Refuel EU Aviation regulation, which mandates increasing SAF blending mandates to reach six percent by 2030 and 70% by 2050.
