Swimsol's 2.4 MW 'SolarSea' array now meets 100% of daytime electricity needs at Cheval Blanc Randheli in the Maldives, cutting an estimated $1.5 million in annual diesel costs. The floating solar platform in the Maldives sits on the ocean rather than on land, which is a necessity in a country where less than 1% of the total area is dry land.

The system is part of a growing Swimsol network across more than 50 resort islands in the Maldives, Indonesia and Chile, representing over 50 MWp of installed solar capacity since the company put its first floating prototype in the water in 2014.

Swimsol shows how floating solar infrastructure, specifically designed for remote tropical areas, can supply islands and resorts with a cleaner, more reliable energy source.
