Brookfield agreed to acquire Aypa Power, the largest standalone battery storage developer in North America, from Blackstone Energy Transition Partners for an enterprise value of approximately $7 billion. Aypa's portfolio spans roughly 6.5 GW of operating, under-construction, and contracted battery storage capacity, backed by a development pipeline exceeding 20 GW in constrained regions across the U.S. and Canada.

The operating and under-construction portfolio is 95% contracted under long-term agreements with investment-grade customers, with an average of 17 years remaining, providing strong cash flow visibility.

As battery storage becomes increasingly essential to grid reliability amid rising electricity demand from AI and other use cases, this acquisition signals that major institutional investors are consolidating scale platforms to capture the next wave of energy infrastructure growth.
