Brownfield Battery Storage Projects

Nofar USA Has Acquired a 400 MWh Battery Storage Project

Nofar USA transacted on a brownfield battery storage project with approximately 400 MWh of capacity, securing site plan approval and a grid interconnection agreement ahead of a 15-year offtake agreement that is currently being finalized. The roughly $230 million project is expected to begin construction within 12 months, with commercial operation targeted for the end of 2028.

The acquisition builds on Nofar USA's growing platform of solar generation and storage assets across multiple U.S. markets as part of a broader renewable energy company with approximately $3 billion in market capitalization. Company leadership emphasized that battery storage strengthens grid reliability, enables greater use of renewable energy and offers a cleaner alternative to gas-fired power plants.

Nofar USA shows how repurposing brownfield sites for battery storage can accelerate clean energy infrastructure development without requiring new greenfield sites.
