Blackstone Infrastructure agreed to invest up to €2 billion in Eurowind Energy, a Danish developer active in 16 European markets across wind, solar, battery storage and biogas. Eurowind's renewable energy investments provide the capital to increase its deployment rate by three to four times the current level, with founding CEO Jens Rasmussen remaining on board alongside co-owner Norlys.

Eurowind was founded in 2006 and has built a team of about 700 people across its European operations. Blackstone's infrastructure portfolio also includes the US renewables platform Invenergy and a joint venture with NextEra Energy.

As European electricity demand is expected to increase, Blackstone illustrates how substantial private investment can speed up the development of clean energy faster than public funding alone.
