Carbon Gap Launches a Free Toolkit to Assess Removal Potential

Carbon Gap launched a free, open-access toolkit that helps users estimate how much carbon dioxide removal (CDR) a country could realistically deliver, available on its new Carbon Removal Readiness Assessment website alongside every assessment published. The toolkit packages a methodology refined over two years and applied in seven countries.

Assessments start by identifying a country’s land, energy, mineral and geological storage resources, then test that potential against national policy, stakeholder views and public opinion to build realistic scenarios. The toolkit includes a step-by-step guide, report and roadmap templates, stakeholder interview materials, a taxonomy of CDR methods and an optimization tool.

Carbon Gap shows how open-access tools can help governments, researchers and civil society groups work out how much carbon they could remove at home to meet net-zero targets.
