Bank Energy Finance Targets

JPMorganChase Updates Its Climate Targets and Opens an Energy Center

JPMorganChase has launched its Center for Energy and the Environment, its hub focused on affordability, security, reliability, and sustainability. The bank also updated its environmental targets, aligning its portfolio-level carbon-intensity targets with the International Energy Agency's 2025 update to the Net Zero Emissions by 2050 scenario.

It broadened its Sustainable Development Targets' green objective to include financing for grid, nuclear, and low-carbon energy across diversified power companies. The bank says its targets act as a compass, do not restrict financing, and treats financed emissions as an impact metric. Its tax-oriented investing has helped finance one in four gigawatts of U.S. renewables and storage.

As banks weigh climate goals alongside energy security, JPMorganChase shows how lenders may measure progress through capital mobilized across the whole energy system.
