Curio Has Advanced NuCycle Toward Full-Scale Facility Design
Adam Harrie — July 16, 2026Curio announced that Sargent & Lundy will lead engineering and facility design for the process building housing its 'NuCycle' nuclear fuel recycling technology, marking the project's transition from technology development to formal engineering execution. The multidisciplinary design work will translate Curio's proprietary process systems into an integrated, licensable industrial facility designed to support future U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission approval.
The design phase includes site evaluation, facility design criteria and conceptual planning for the process building, with work advancing toward detailed design and NRC licensing for a domestic nuclear fuel cycle.
Curio has already achieved lab-scale validation across four Department of Energy national laboratories and secured more than $14 million in competitive federal grants. NuCycle was also named a winner of Fast Company's 2026 World Changing Ideas Awards.
