Industrial Solar Storage Systems

Industrial solar storage systems are supporting energy-intensive operations as Envision Energy energizes a 25 MW/125 MWh battery energy storage system at OCP Green Energy’s Benguerir mining site in Morocco. The five-hour LFP system integrates with the site’s solar generation, grid conditions, and industrial load, storing surplus daytime solar electricity for use during peak consumption periods. This approach is expected to reduce the site’s peak-hour electricity bill by approximately 25%.

Designed for a 25-year operating life with daily charge-discharge cycles, the system demonstrates how battery storage can function as a long-term industrial energy management tool rather than solely as a short-duration grid asset. For mining and other energy-intensive industries, pairing renewables with longer-duration storage can improve access to solar generation when demand is highest. The model could also help industrial operators manage electricity costs while supporting greater integration of variable renewable power.
