Kiira Motors Corporation has completed the Tanzanian segment of the 'MIU Grand Trans Africa Electric Expedition' using its 'Kayoola' electric coach, demonstrating the growing viability of electric mobility solutions in East Africa. Covering "1,771 kilometers from the Mutukula border with Uganda to Tunduma on the Zambia–Tanzania border, the journey highlighted the coach’s ability to operate efficiently across long distances while producing no tailpipe emissions."

This expedition provided a practical evaluation of the vehicle’s energy efficiency, charging needs, and performance under varied terrain conditions. The successful completion of this leg underscores the potential for electric coaches to support regional tourism and transport systems seeking to reduce environmental impacts.

By showcasing a cleaner alternative to conventional diesel buses, the initiative advances discussions around low-carbon mobility and illustrates how electric vehicles can contribute to improved air quality and more sustainable travel infrastructure across Tanzania and the broader East African region.
