Low Carbon Shipping Tankers

Braskem Named Its Two New Low Emission Chemical Tankers

Braskem named two next-generation LR1 chemical tankers Beautiful Future and Blooming Future, adding low-emission vessel capacity to its naphtha shipping routes between the US Gulf Coast and Brazil. Each ship reduces CO₂ emissions by approximately 30% compared with the average vessel currently operating in the Braskem fleet, cutting combined annual emissions by an estimated 6,500 tonnes.

The tankers combine advanced engine technology, energy-saving hull designs and emissions controls that exceed current regulatory requirements. Braskem also confirmed that two additional low-emission tankers are under construction, with delivery planned for late 2026 and early 2027.

As industrial shipping operators work to reduce transport-related emissions, Braskem shows how upgrading fleet infrastructure with purpose-built low-emission vessels can deliver measurable reductions while maintaining core supply chain operations.
