Clean Marine Supply Partnerships
StormFisher Partnered with CarbonLeap to Reduce Carbon Footprint
Colin Smith — April 4, 2026StormFisher Hydrogen Ltd. and CarbonLeap B.V. have formed a partnership to support Scope 3 emission reductions in transatlantic maritime logistics. The collaboration links StormFisher’s Renewable Fuels of Non‑Biological Origin certified e‑methanol with CarbonLeap’s system for aggregating cargo‑owner demand to co‑finance low carbon fuel adoption. StormFisher plans to supply e‑methanol produced at its Varennes facility in Québec, where green hydrogen generated through electrolysis will be combined with captured carbon dioxide to produce approximately 70,000 tonnes of e‑methanol annually. The fuel is expected to reduce lifecycle carbon intensity by more than 85 percent compared to conventional marine fuels.
CarbonLeap’s book‑and‑claim model enables cargo owners to claim verified emissions reductions regardless of the vessel or carrier used, addressing challenges associated with multi‑carrier supply chains. Under the partnership, carriers deploy the e‑methanol on selected voyages while CarbonLeap manages verification and allocates emissions benefits to participating cargo owners. The arrangement is intended to provide a cost‑competitive pathway for companies seeking to reduce transport‑related Scope 3 emissions and to expand access to low carbon maritime transport solutions on European and transatlantic trade routes.
