Clean Energy Data Centers
Noon Energy and Meta Agreed on 1GW of Its Ultra-Long Duration Storage
Adam Harrie — April 29, 2026Noon Energy and Meta agreed to a supply contract for up to 1 GW of ultra-long-duration energy storage capacity, beginning with a 25 MW pilot project scheduled for completion by 2028. Noon’s technology stores energy for 100-plus hours using carbon and oxygen rather than scarce metals like lithium, providing data centers with clean baseload power during extended periods of low renewable generation.
The deal supports Meta's push to bring AI data centers online faster by securing a reliable, clean energy supply independent of intermittent solar and wind availability. A full 1 GW supply contract will follow the successful delivery of the initial project, as agreed by the two parties.
Noon Energy and Meta show how energy storage can bridge the gap between renewable generation and the stable power that next-generation data centers require.
