Frontier and Carbonfuture Launched a Major BECCS Agreement
Adam Harrie — July 30, 2026References: prnewswire
Frontier Infrastructure Holdings and Carbonfuture announced a multi-year commercial agreement representing the largest ethanol BECCS carbon removal deal to date, making 750,000 durable carbon removal credits from Frontier's 'Project Sprint' available to corporate and institutional buyers. Captured biogenic CO₂ from Midwest ethanol producers will be transported through Frontier's CO₂-by-rail platform to permitted geologic sequestration infrastructure in Wyoming, with operations expected to begin in Q4 2027.
The arrangement combines Frontier's carbon capture, transportation and storage capacity with Carbonfuture's digital infrastructure and global buyer network, giving ethanol producers access to carbon markets without waiting for new pipeline development. Removal credits will be certified under Puro.earth's Geologically Stored Carbon Methodology, with monitoring and verification provided by Mangrove Systems.
Frontier Infrastructure and Carbonfuture show how rail-based CO₂ transportation can expand access to permanent geologic storage while helping scale high-integrity bioenergy carbon removal beyond existing pipeline constraints.
