MorGen Energy, a Trafigura company, has reached a final investment decision to develop a 20MW green hydrogen facility in Milford Haven, Wales. According to the announcement, the project will use electrolysers powered by renewable electricity to produce green hydrogen for industrial and transport applications. The facility is planned as part of the broader South Wales Industrial Cluster, which aims to reduce emissions across hard to abate sectors. MorGen Energy stated that the project will support regional decarbonisation by supplying hydrogen to local users and by contributing to the development of a low carbon energy ecosystem in the Milford Haven area.

The project is expected to begin construction following permitting and is positioned as an early scale commercial hydrogen development in the United Kingdom. Trafigura noted that the facility will help build domestic hydrogen production capacity and provide operational experience that can inform future large scale investments. The initiative aligns with national objectives to expand clean hydrogen infrastructure and to support industrial transition in regions with existing energy assets. The Milford Haven project also reflects ongoing efforts to repurpose established energy hubs for emerging low carbon technologies.
