Elea Builds a Renewable-Powered AI Center in Brazil's Amazon Region
Mursal Rahman — June 26, 2026Renewable AI infrastructure is expanding in Brazil as Elea Data Centers and AXIA Energia prepare to launch an AI-ready data center in Belém, located in the Amazon region. The BEL1 facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2027 with an initial 7.5 MW capacity and potential expansion up to 100 MW. AXIA will supply the project with 100% renewable energy through a power purchase agreement, while the site’s location near a high-voltage substation is designed to support reliability, efficiency, and future scaling.
For businesses, the project reflects rising demand for digital infrastructure that can support AI workloads without relying on fossil-fuel-heavy power systems. By combining renewable electricity, high-capacity grid access, and regional connectivity, Elea and AXIA are positioning Belém as a new digital hub. The model could attract investment, reduce digital inequality, and create cleaner pathways for AI infrastructure growth in emerging markets.
