RWE and Meta's new power purchase agreement for the 298-megawatt Rabbit's Foot Solar project demonstrates how renewable energy developers and major data-driven businesses are collaborating to meet growing electricity demand.
The project highlights a scalable approach to energy procurement, allowing Meta to match its operations with clean power while giving RWE long-term revenue certainty through a contracted energy buyer. By committing to nearly 300 MW of solar generation, the agreement supports new infrastructure development that might otherwise face financing challenges.
The project is expected to create nearly 200 construction jobs and generate more than $50 million in tax revenue over four decades, benefiting local schools, emergency services, and public infrastructure. As AI, cloud computing, and digital services expand, long-term renewable energy agreements are becoming a key strategy for balancing growth, energy reliability, and sustainability goals.
