Waste-to-Energy Facilities

Ameresco subsidiary Neogenyx Fuels broke ground on the Neogenyx Fuels RNG Facility, its first agricultural renewable natural gas plant, at the Adams Land & Cattle feedlot in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Eight anaerobic digesters will convert feedlot manure into biogas, producing an estimated 1.2 million MMBtu of pipeline-quality renewable natural gas each year.

The facility will reuse process byproducts onsite as livestock bedding and agricultural fertilizer and is projected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by roughly 63,700 metric tons per year, comparable to the carbon captured by 63,800 acres of U.S. forest.

As agricultural operations look for ways to offset waste management costs while contributing to lower-carbon energy supply, this facility signals how livestock byproducts could become a meaningful feedstock source for renewable fuel production across the broader agricultural sector.
