Fluxys is developing new carbon transport infrastructure at the Port of Antwerp to transport captured CO2 from industrial sites to storage locations in the North Sea as Europe advances its carbon capture efforts.
The project will develop a shared pipeline system that multiple companies -- including those in high-emission sectors -- can use. This approach allows industries to access carbon storage without building their own transport infrastructure. The network is being developed in phases and will connect to both domestic and wider European systems, positioning the Port of Antwerp as a regional hub for carbon management.
