Dual-Use Solar Developments

Lightstar Renewables is expanding dual-use solar developments across Illinois by combining community solar, agrivoltaics and battery energy storage on privately owned land. Its agrivoltaic model allows solar generation to coexist with agricultural activities such as grazing or hay production, helping properties remain productive while adding renewable power capacity. The company’s 2.75 MW US Highway 136 Solar Project in Fulton County also supplies electricity directly to the local distribution grid.

For landowners, Lightstar offers leases lasting 20 years or more with fixed income while property ownership remains unchanged. The company handles project permitting, construction and operations, reducing the operational responsibilities placed on participating landowners. This approach has contributed to a national development pipeline exceeding 1,000 MW across 15 states. By offering solar, agrivoltaic and standalone battery projects, Lightstar can address different property types while expanding its presence in Illinois’ growing renewable energy market.
