Incentivized EV Charging Programs

WeaveGrid Rewards Drivers for Charging During Off-Peak Hours

WeaveGrid has introduced incentivized EV charging programs that reward North Carolina drivers for shifting vehicle charging to periods of lower electricity demand. Developed with North Carolina's Electric Cooperatives, EVConnectNC uses information from connected vehicles and home chargers to identify charging patterns, helping utilities balance electricity consumption without restricting drivers' control over their vehicles.

Participants can earn up to $120 annually by completing at least 90% of their charging during off-peak hours and using 200 kWh monthly. The program is already operating through Roanoke Electric Cooperative and South River EMC, with eligible drivers able to participate using compatible vehicles or existing chargers.

For electric cooperatives, the platform provides greater visibility into growing EV electricity demand, supporting more effective infrastructure planning and cost management. WeaveGrid also gains opportunities to expand its managed charging software across member-owned utility networks.
